Minxipedia
delve a little deeper....
This morning I was looking at my website statistics and in particular the referrer sites, i.e where people have clicked to get onto this website. the most common ones are Adultwork and Punternet (you have to search to get me!) along with some of the other escort directories I am advertised on and a few search engines. The search engine thing is good because it means people are typing in key words and getting to me and I think a lot of people who are looking for something will start off on Google and as I am competing with agencies who have much higher traffic than me I am doing something right! One thing I was confused about was finding I had 5 hits from a site called Reddit which appears to be full of random internet shit. Sorry, am sure there is a better way to describe it... ah, apparently it is a social news website owned by Conde Nast. Looks random to me. i was a bit concerned why I would be linked there so did a search for MinxyLydia (nothing) and then Minxy and Lydia separately, but nothing was relevant. How odd. As much as internet exposure is good for business one always worries that nasty untrue stuff might appear so I was a bit freaked. Oh well, it was only 5 hits so can't be too huge a deal. What I did discover when searching Lydia is that nearly all the results were related to a character in a game called Skyrim, whatever that is... but it seems odd that so many men (boys?) seem to be obsessed with a cartoon woman in a video game... As is the way of the internet, and my rambling mind I ended up looking up the meaning of my name. You would have thought I would have done that before now, but I never did. Lydia comes from the youngest Bennet sister in Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Lydia ran away with a solider to have dirty pre marital sex, shamed her family and ended up having to marry him which is exactly what I would have done if I was a 19th century chick! So, according to various websites Lydia comes from a historic region of Asia Minor, that included Troy and Ephesus. Lydia is also the name of a purple goods seller, in the Bible. She is considered the first European convert to Christianity. She was living in Thyatira which was on the border of the region of Lydia. I also read that it means beautiful and adored so am quite pleased with that! Finally, whilst googling I discovered a song by Fur Patrol called Lydia, which appears to be about a woman who has been dumped for someone called Lydia. I'll post a Youtube link below but the best lyrics are: Her arms are warm Her legs are wide and so's her smile So true!

I am being excited today because I have got tickets to see Blur in Wolverhampton as part of their mini warm up tour prior to their Olympic closing ceremony Hyde Park gig. And seeing as I am not going to that like some people *evil glare* I am thrilled to be seeing them elsewhere and a smaller venue will be much better anyway!
Anyway I shall be going with a dear friend who lives that way and staying with him which will be nice, but I am dithering about doing a couple of days in Birmingham prior to that weekend on 2nd and 3rd August. If anyone is in The Midlands and would like to book me do drop me a line and I can organise a hotel! In other news my friend had a baby this morning so am feeling all excited and dewy eyed! As much as I don't want any of my own I do quite like other peoples! |
